Cardboard cat scratchers are a great way to focus your cats energy on something other than your furniture. They’re also easy enough to make, that you can easily keep your cat in fresh scratching materials.
Here’s how to make one!
Cut the bottom out of a box to a depth of 1 inch, and cut strips of cardboard into 1-inch strips that will fit longways inside the bottom of the box 
Place a bead of craft glue on one side of the strip 
Place the strip inside the box 
Squeeze the strips together 
Continue placing strips until the bottom of the box is full, being sure to place some glue between the box and the final strip
